Ohio State Motto

Motto and Nickname

The Ohio State Motto
The Ohio motto was adopted in 1959 and is:

"With God, all things are possible"

The Meaning of the Ohio State Motto
This motto replaced the temporary Latin motto of "Imperium In Imperio" meaning 'An empire within an empire.' A contest was held to find a new motto and a 12 year old lad, Jimmy Mastronardo, submitted the winning phrase. The roots of the expression can be found in the Bible Matthew 19:26 in which Jesus said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

"With God, all things are possible"
